Sea Nomad at Lampi Island Our Eco-Volunteer Cruises depart Kaw Thaung, Myanmar, weekly taking up to eight eco-volunteers on one of our 40ft. (12.2 meter) motor-sailing catamarans. Participants in these cruises will take part in all activities including boat handling and live aboard duties. They will also assist scientists in observations and data collection. Rarely studied tribes of Moken (sea gypsies), local boat building techniques, marine mammals, sea turtles, and sea birds provide exciting subject for our research. Each cruise is unique and is dependent upon our research needs. However, each cruise will include contacts with the Moken, observations of marine mega fauna and native birds plus at least one jungle trek or mangrove canoe trip. While this may be considered to be a working holiday, and the early morning hours are best for field observations, we can hardly imagine a more interesting way to visit these relatively unknown islands than as members of a real research team. Contributions for eco-volunteers *
* Contributions will go towards operating the boat and the research and for promoting awareness and protection of the archipelago. Would you like more information? Send email to info@marinasia.com | ||||||||||
